This Week in the Fashion Studio: Samples, Samples, Samples!

4 nov sampling fashion studioSampling is arguably the most exciting process in the Fashion studio as you get to see a design come to life.

Everything begins in the initial consultation with the studio team, where we go through your designs, no matter how big or small the project we will tackle it with enthusiasm. We can help give tips and advice on finishes, fabrics and any tricky parts of garment construction that you may be unsure of. What we need in that initial meeting is your final design sketch, annotated as best as possible complete with all the measurements. At this point we will need the final fabrics so the pattern cutters will know exactly what kind of stretch and properties need to be considered when drafting out the pattern pieces.

The next stage is to get toiling! The design will be stitched together out of a similar (cheaper) fabric to check the fit and make any final amendments to the pattern. After this one of our sample machinists in the studio will create your final garment. Each machinist in the studio specialises in different types of garment and fabrics, as an example Singh is an amazing Tailor who does the majority of our suits, coats and Jackets and Gonul our head machinist is a whizz with Lycra sportswear, Jersey and swimwear.

Then it is time to collect, which is my favourite part of the process as the clients are often thrilled with their final designs. We can then give out production costings for each style and can move on to grading/production.

If you have a dream garment, or an experimental project you want made or maybe even a wedding dress, get in touch with the studio team, there is no project too big or too small!
