EBD Competition with BrandAlley and FashionCapital
Following the phenomenal success of last year’s Little Black Dress competition, BrandAlley and Fashion Capital joined forces once more to challenge UK based emerging designers to create the perfect range of Evening Black Dresses. The competition creates a fantastic opportunity for designers to be seen by the 3 million unique visitors on BrandAlley.co.uk every month.
Since launching in June this year we were inundated with entries from talented designers and after much deliberation 20 designers were put forward for the judging day. The judging panel included Anna Dowd (ITV), Hannah Rochell (The Times), Laura Puddy (Cosmopolitan), Marie Davies (Drapers and Marian Kihogo (Blogger/Stylist) as well as Jenny Holloway (Fashion Capital Director) and Kristina Laslett (BrandAlley PR and Brand Engagement Manager).

Profile – further opportunity to apply!
Last week the first selection process for the Profile fashion event on 10th November took place at The Workshop. For those designers unable to attend this day, a second judging day at The Workshop will take place before the official judging day on 6th September.
Designers across ladieswear and accessories are now invited to present 6 samples from their S/S 12 collection to the FashionCapital team on Friday 2nd September. If you would like to take this opportunity please email jenni@fashion-enter.com for more details.

New Designer at Debenhams
After the initial selection day at the Debenhams head office last week we are delighted to announce that Debenhams has requested to review seven of the designers in a further selection process to discuss ideas for their collection.
Each designer will have 30 minutes with Julian Fuller Design Manager at Debenhams to discuss colour palette, range plan including drawings of each designand fabric swatches & trims for the eight piece collection they would intend on showcasing if selected for the Profile fashion event in November. This is set to take place the week commencing 29th August. Designers are:

New designers and collections needed for SS12 buyers meetings
The new Spring Summer season is fast approaching and we are looking forward to reviewing your new collections. If you have a new collection that you would like to show us please send some images and some information about your brand including price points. If you are still in the designing stages and would like to have some feedback please scan and email over your mood boards and some designs over.
We have some buyers meetings coming up soon starting with House of Fraser so new designers welcome as well as new collections from members.

As briefly mentioned last week we are gearing up for our Summer Sample & Clearance Sale (27th & 28th August) so if you are stocked at the Bath boutique and want to add your pieces please get in touch with JoJo jojo@fashioncapital.co.uk and let her know stock and prices.
From the end of the month we are looking to add autumn collections and new designs just in time for the Milsom Place Autumn Fashion Preview. Along with the other retailers in the complex we have a unique fashion evening where invited guests will be treated to drinks and nibbles, treatments and goodie bags. At British Designers Bath we will be putting on a nail bar and we are open to suggestions from stocked designers of any further offers that they would like to add? Please contact JoJo if you would like to provide a discount, offer, or goodie bag samples for the event – taking place Thursday 8th September 6pm onwards.

CAD/CAM
Fashion Enter is working with Vetigraph and Andy Wilkes to bring you introductory CAD courses. The courses will be held at the Workshop for a maximum of 10 students per course. Andy comes to us with over 26 years experience in the fashion industry working with CAD systems and has integrated them into many businesses.
Andy has also worked in the Hollywood film costume industry for over 16 years and has accumulated extensive credits in Vogue, Elle, Details and Mirrabella. He has also worked for many film companies including Warner Brothers, Sony, Universal, Paramount and Disney. Furthermore, he has worked with a host of A-list celebrities including everybody from Naomi Campbell through to Angelina Jolie.

Summer Uni 2011
This summer our creative course in Barking has been the best to date, our students have shown a great deal of creativity and hard work. The Summer Uni has been such a success that extra dates have been added and a record number of students have attended!
On August 26th the student’s hard work will be showcased in an exclusive fashion show at the boutique in Barking. Watch this space to discover the next big name in fashion come out of Barking!
