FashionCapital has been delighted to exhibit once again at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week at Earls Court. Throughout the week FC has been on hand to offer that all important support and industry advice to the next set of talented graduates to leave university and embark on a career in the real world of fashion.

FC Etail Boutique opportunity
The competition to giveaway 10 free online boutiques at gfw has been a huge success with students and graduates all jumping at the chance to win a free etail site for their own label. The latest from British Designers@FC Boutique Bath…
We may well be surrounded by Paolita beachwear and vibrant Tramp in Disguise maxi dresses but the Great British weather seems to have other plans this week. Our style tip for this mood swing climate is to layer up those summer dresses with a lightweight trench coat, fabulous umbrella and a bright red smile!
Last week we announced Chloe Victoria Jones as the winner of our Bath Spa Uni external project for 2nd Year fashion students. Her project work has been on display on the FashionCapital stand at Graduate Fashion Week for the past four days and will also be on show at this September’s Profile event. Meanwhile, over at the boutique we’ve had another delivery of Jean Pierre Braganza, a firm favourite with the staff and clientele of Bath, some additional printed pieces from Tramp in Disguise and handmade bags and scarves from Soomin.
Boutique manager JoJo has been attending the local grad shows and her top picks from UWE Fashion & Textiles show includes: innovative, sculptural knitwear by Sarah Cassidy and Johanna Possett-Walsh, graphic origami pieces by Elaine Yeoh and intricate tailoring by Rei Tan. Well done to all the students always great to see inspirational ideas on home ground.
And finally we would just like to mention the Paolita Beach party taking place at the Bath boutique on Thursday 30th June – there will be the 3 D’s = discounts, drinks and dancing! Should be fun so pop down for some super fabulous holiday beachwear.

Calling All Apprentices!
If you are yet to apply for the fashion and textiles apprenticeship, do not hesitate any longer as you still have time to join the next cohort. With over 20 employers on board now and interviews well underway, now is the perfect time for you to get involved in the only fashion and textiles apprenticeship program currently offered in London in apparel. To apply is simple; all you have to do is email a copy of your CV to apprenticeships@fashioncapital.co.uk.
There are some eligibility criteria that you must meet before submitting your CV however, you need to have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE grades (which must be itemised on your CV providing a clear list of your subjects and the grade you scored for each of them) whilst you must also be aged 16-24 and to not have a qualification higher than level 4, therefore no degree students can apply.
The course itself is 18 months in duration of which you will be employed for this whole period. You will be working with the employer 4 days out of 5 each week and will take lessons with Fashion Enter at the Workshop for the remaining week day. The minimum amount your employer has to pay you is £100 per week and increases are subject to their discretion.

Therefore you will have the opportunity to upload as many products as you like, use it to monitor your stock and promote your branding and company ethos whilst being able to colour code your area to match your logo/products. Furthermore, having your website under the domain of fcboutique.co.uk will mean you will be able to utilise the existing and future marketing campaigns carried out by FashionCapital.co.uk to promote your products in addition to your marketing.

Title: How Much Are You Really Making?
Topics:
1. Introduction to Profit/Loss –How many garments do you have to sell before you start making money? How do you know if your prices are going to cover all your costs? Why wait until the end of the year to find out from your accountant just how successful you were this season? A simple Profit/Loss account is the starting point to answering these questions and helping you manage your business well.
2. Recording your sales and purchases – Simple, practical, ways to record your income and expenditure that don’t take up a lot of time but do keep you in control.
3. How to treat stock – How to value fabrics, trimmings and finished garments.
4. VAT – Do you need to be VAT registered? Would it pay to be VAT registered?
5. Cash Flow – How would your business be affected if one of your customers was late paying you? Are you sure you will be able to pay for your garments when they are ready? This section will introduce a simple cash flow tool to help you plan ahead.

The Collection returns!
The Collection Summer Sizzler will be held on the 8th July 2011 in the prestigious club Studio Valbonne! The show is set to be a scorcher in one of London’s biggest, plushest nightclub!

FC is delighted to introduce the latest contributor to join the site. Kelli Simpson has a strong background in fashion having studied at the London College of Fashion and hopes to one day become a buyer. Kelli is set to contribute her thoughts and findings in the world of fashion!
Eleni Hadjicosti Leaving
Fashion Enter would like to wish Eleni farewell and good luck in her future endeavours after working in the Workshop for the last 10 months as a friendly face and fantastic administrator for the production unit. Eleni will be missed dearly and we wish her every success in her future career.
