Student Trends by Holly Lowe

Holly Lowe is the latest contributor to join FashionCapital as the student representative reporting on current trends donned by her fellow colleagues:

‘As an English student at Leeds there's nothing I like more than emerging bleary eyed into the daylight after a marathon library stint and sitting and people watching. The Student Union is our catwalk.  Students have moved on from the days of dungarees and clogs; walking around a university city now is like walking around the pages of Dazed and Confused. Fashion is King to students, unfortunately cash is not. However I intend to prove that even on a measly budget you can look individual, on-trend and still have a few coppers left over for the odd pint.'

Expect trend reports, interviews and shopping advice all coming soon from Holly.

LinkShare

FashionCapital.co.uk attended the LinkShare Symposium last Thursday to network with market affiliates and merchants with an exciting presentation on consumer e-commerce trends and open question forum with leading online businesses. There is an evidently increasing online consumer shopper market as we now have the opportunity to shop around for a particular product we are interested in and find the best offer around from the comfort of our own homes. E-Commerce sites therefore have to offer additional pulling factors to secure the sale i.e. vouchers or provide a list of products related to the initial search to lure the customer buying your product and potentially additional add-ons.

Layla Divine!!

Layla is a designer who has recently joined Fashion Enter Boutique in Barking and has used the machine since the age of 12 and has over 25 years experience.

So Enter Boutique in Barking have decided to bring something new and different…

We have all heard of the now famous Swap where somebody will bring an old outfit and swap it for a new outfit. But now we have created something called Swap Style where you bring something in new or old and have it brought to life by adding a different style and twist to it.

Its cost affective, creative and your guaranteed not to see anybody wearing it. A beautiful example of a recent transformation which was done in less than 3days is featured below. Once a simple dress turned into a dress fit for a princess!

Welcome Layla this is just the beginning….

Retail News

UK retail footfall only saw a slight drop in March in comparison to the previous year despite Easter Bank holiday falling in March last year. Month on month figures for March showed a 4.2% increase against February, so a more positive outlook for retailers as the summer weather potentially reignites consumer confidence. With the opening of Topshop in New York last week and Harrods expected to open another store in Kuala Lumpur, the British fashion giants are making great headway in the international market.
