Open Day at The Workshop
Today the much anticipated Open Day at The Workshop took place and what a resounding success it was. There was an excellant turn out with leading industry figures such as Chair of Graduate Fashion Week Terry Mansfield CBE, Martin Stone from The British Fashion Council, Fred Kirkland Head of Skills Development at Skillfast-UK and Harold Flowerdue Enterprise Learning Strategy Manager at Croydon Council all attending to review what was available.
Anyone with an interest in the extensive fashion courses had the opportunity to meet with the trainer, moderators and assessors and to review the equipment that will be used on the course ranging from embroidery machines to over locking machines, Veti Graph CAD/CAM in pattern making, SpeedStep software and much more besides.

Asos.com meeting
Don't forget the asos.com meeting on 29th January at 2pm at the Kingston Showroom. The womenswear buyer will be on the hunt for the latest up and coming designer collections for Spring/Summer 09. One designer Agnes Valentine who has recently been in touch with Hayleigh regarding the meeting had this to say:

Rose Sinclair as Educational Specialist on FC
Rose Sinclair is the next specialist advisor to join FashionCapital as Educational Specialist. Members will soon have access to Rose’s extensive knowledge and experience via a series of articles written by Rose.
‘I am both a designer and a educator, and have now been working in education for the past 20 years, my key achievements are highlighted in my bio however in particular I am proud of the work I do linking schools with industry and of course researching and writing books, and most importantly being part of important initiatives such as the CAD/CAM DATA/DCFS initiative.’
Rose is also the Design and Education consultant for the fashion courses at The Workshop.

Fashion+ Steering Group meeting
FashionCapital will be attending the Fashion+ Steering Group meeting at the London College of Fashion tomorrow.
Fashion+ is a DfID (DEA) funded project aimed at reducing poverty and creating sustainable livelihoods in the supply chains to the UK fashion industry. The project aims to integrate training on development, poverty reduction and sustainable livelihood creation as a core part of all fashion business training in the UK.
