Face of Croydon Semi Finals

At 5pm on Thursday the 50 semi finalists will be announced via email and displayed on www.fashioncapital.co.uk. Once you have been selected to compete in the semi finals, you must then come and collect your Black Dress's provided by Divinity Models on the morning of Friday 13th from the Croydon Enter Boutique.

The semi final will take place on Saturday 14th at 4pm and a platform is being erected at North End in between the Whitgift entrance and main entrance to Centrale. At 12pm on Saturday the 50 semi finalists will start to arrive and you will each be given a number and allocated time where you will meet the team

At 4pm Ashley McKenzie of X Factor will present the semi final where you will walk onto the stage and Ashley will ask you for your name and one of the following four questions:

  1. What would it mean to you if you won Face of Croydon?
  2. What are your hobbies and interests?
  3. What is your current occupation?
  4. Have you always been interested in modelling?


You will then come off the stage and wait for the judge's deliberations. When the judges have deliberated, the 20 finalists will be announced who will then go up on stage.

Croydon Fashion Festival

Don't miss the first ever Croydon Fashion Festival which kicks off next Monday 16th June

To start Croydon's first ever fashion week, a big event is set to transform North End in Croydon this Monday 16th June. A large group of ‘fashionable folk' will join together in one great big stylish assembly to walk through the town centre in what looks certain to be the biggest celebration of fashion the area has ever seen.

Every day will feature an exciting variety of events across town designed to appeal to every aspiring fashionista. From Catwalk shows featuring new designers and the latest in store fashions, interactive hair and beauty demos, daily style challenges and a workshop and seminar programme if you're interested in the business, there will be something for everyone. Plus there will be goodie bag giveaways happening all during the week – don't miss your chance to grab one!

Graduate Fashion Week

FashionCapital is reporting live from Graduate Fashion Week every day this week and what a week it has been. With 49 universities, 20 catwalk shows and excitable mass of fashion savvy students the event has been a colourful and wonderful insight into tomorrow's stars of the fashion industry.

The final day for the shows was yesterday and having reported on the majority FashionCapital has been on hand to provide you with the lo-down of the highs and lows and what shinning excellence has graced the runway this year.

With two days left at Earls Court FashionCapital is spreading the word and ensuring all students and graduates are aware of the fantastic promotion and guidance we can provide for them.

The event culminates in the glamorous Gala Fashion Shows and Awards which are taking place this evening with a special guest appearance from supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

Understanding the Fashion Industry Seminar

Westwood Language College for Girls is a six-form entry Comprehensive Community School for students aged between eleven and sixteen years. From moulding plastics to designing clothes, there are great opportunities for practical skills development at Westwood.

FashionCapital held its first Understanding Fashion seminar with Westwood Language School this week with the highly talented head of year Rachel Ford.

Fashion Capital gave an overview of the industry and how design actually works but the year 9 students were well versed as Rachel herself is a practising designer of quality ladieswear. The students were already working on patterns and blocks understanding the relatively complicated properties of notches, grade lines and block construction!
