Tomorrow the Buyer of Branded Womenswear for ASOS.com will be visiting the Enter boutique in Croydon to select another collection of designers. This follows the highly successful launch of the 7 FashionCapital designers in May this year which have beaten all sales estimates. Visit www.asos.com and select independent designers to the latest hot designers from FashionCapital.
In Retail This Week
With our designers hitting the big time on ASOS.com it comes to no surprise that online shopping rose by 35 per cent to £14.7 billion in the UK last year – a rate of growth almost 10 times higher than that of the total retail market. According to Verdict Research, strong growth is set to continue and online retail estimated to reach £44.9 billion by 2012 – 13.8 per cent of total online spend.
The report points out that convenience is the main reason for the internet's continued success, mentioned by more than half of the online shoppers from 4,059 adults surveyed.
British Satellite Television
The delegation from South Africa visiting London last month caused quite a stir; not only did local press from Barking and Croydon feature their visit but also BBC online and the British Satellite Television (BST) got a piece of the action as well. BST filmed the delegation at the British Fashion and Textile museum. Watch the video below to discover what the delegation really thought about fashion in London.
Trend Trends Trends!
FashionCapital knows how important trends are and this is why our visit to the Trend Union and Li Edelkoort presentation tomorrow is key in providing you with the latest predictions for colours, fabrics, shapes and themes for 2010.
There has always been great interest in the Edelkoort / Trend Union client audio Fashion and Lifestyle Trend presentations, which take place twice a year in Paris around the same time as Premiere Vision.

Graduate Fashion Week
Next week the FashionCapital team will be flying the flag at Graduate Fashion Week at Earls Court 2. From 8th – 12th June. Graduates from universities all over the country will be showcasing their final collections and, as always, the event will attract fashion scouts from the UK and overseas all looking for that unique quirky Britishness that has helped to make some of the worlds most famous design houses the success they are today.
FashionCapital will be on hand to make sure graduates are given the best possible advice and support on what to do next. If you are will be at Graduate Fashion Week this year visit stand number E110 and we will be on hand to point you in the right direction.

The Face of Croydon semi finals are set to take place on June 14th so with just few days to go now this is your last week to apply! The winner will receive a FREE trip to New York City courtesy of Centrale Shopping Centre and will take centre stage at the Profile fashion show during New York Fashion week. This is an opportunity not to be missed! Timetable for Semi Final – Saturday 14th June
From a pre selected 50 short listed model selection the judges will be selecting 20 contestants for the final on 21st June.
2.00pm: Contestants to assemble (from 2pm onwards).
3.00pm: Dress rehearsal
4.00pm: Semi final commences
4.40pm: Judges deliberate
5.00pm: 20 finalists announced
Email confirmation of the schedule above will be sent to all contestants on Friday 6th June.
Monday 16th June
Parade for the 20 finalists
Saturday 21st June
The grand final where the judges will be selecting the winner for the New York Trip and there is an announcment of the People's Favourite!

Shiem Yusuf
Shiem Yusuf is a 19 year old aspiring model. She is one of the girls applying for the Face of Croydon this year. Having already entered last years competition Shiem knows a few things on what to expect..
’I decided to start modelling at the age of 18 after being approached several times on the street by random people asking me "if I was a model or claiming they had seen me in the magazine" so I thought I'd give it a shot. Getting information about modelling was very hard at first until I happened to be in Centrale shopping centre (Croydon) last year and noticed a runway set up for a fashion show, I asked around and was redirected to Fashion Enter Boutique where I met Jenny Holloway and Rodney Compton and found myself modelling for 4 different designers on that same day. I was so nervous but Jenny Holloway gave me words of encouragement e.g. "you can do it" and" do not forget to smile because you have gorgeous teeth".
The show was featured in the Croydon Advertisers and my passion and love for modelling has grown ever since. I believe that being a contestant in the Face of Croydon is a good platform to either begin modelling (as I started in a similar way) or take your experiences to a new level especially for any models (like myself) who have been turned down by the big modelling agencies time and time again.’
