Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

NEWSLETTER

Can’t believe how cold it was, especially at 6.30 when I was walking the dog! But ‘things’ are definitely hotting up in the FashionCapital camp with London Fashion Week around the corner! If any of you are going, presume loads are, then look out for the FashionCapital crew. We are filming there for four days so stop by and say hello to Vanessa, JoJo, Rodney, Maciej, Yoel, Emily and Hayleigh…there’s tons of us. We are looking for tales behind the scenes, interviewing a cross section of designers including TopShop buyers, Jo Hooper (ex Debenhams Buying Director) now at Silvereed producing garments for designers such as Gharani Strok, plus we will be looking at the exhibition and some of schedule events too.

BIG GOOD LUCK TO JACOB KIMMIE, this is his first LFW event so hope it goes well for you two.

If any of you fancy being filmed then get in touch with jojo@fashioncapital.co.uk and let’s book you in. All the films will then be shown in the multimedia section on the site.

The conferencing sessions are going well… however what we are finding is that you don’t need specific mentoring on a topic…rather a business mentoring session. We can easily accommodate this and if you want literally a one to one by video conferencing then just call up the office on 020 8462 9620 or email vanessa@fashioncapital.co.uk and let’s book you in a session.

“Superb! Really helping me to move forward…”

These are the words from Sarah Walsh – it’s good to know that we can genuinely help people succeed in their business.

Firstly, I’ve been encouraged and inspired to keep going on. Secondly, I’m much more enlightened / educated about the whole process,”

commented Taiwo Adeniyi.

“The information and experience shared by the trainers today has been invaluable and very generous. I’ve thoroughly gained a lot from it! Very friendly and open,” said Patricia Hong.

The Manufacturers Workshop was excellent last week and many thanks to LARC and also City Fringe for making this happen. Its free and the 25 plus designers that arrived last Wednesday really saw a good cross section of units from Park Lane Styles (making designer collections for LFW) to Posh Clothing who had a 3,000 run of a jersey top for River Island.

We also met the multi talented Kriss Beals on Power Patterns who can make any pattern for you plus give you one to one tuition on patterns too.

UK firms are looking to the East for sales growth; in a recent survey of over 1,100 firms half reported that they achieved higher exports in the last six months with substantial growth to India and China. Great timing this. Our sister company Fashion Enter is working with a talented representative Mr. Wang in Beijing and he has secured a chain of boutiques and is currently looking at the ranges of Romeo Pires, Fanni Ann, Ruthi Orlin, Aimee McWilliams and Femini.

Finally we are delighted to receive funding from Croydon Business for the LEGI initiative. Over the next few weeks we are working on a state of the art data base for all fashion companies that are

based in the LEGI catchments area.

FashionCapital and the merry crew will be off to LFW 12-16th. Jo Iles cannot contain her excitement here’s what she has to say…

It’s a busy old time on the fashion calendar, with New York just about to wrap it’s the turn of London and this season the FC team will be there checking out all the Fashion Week action. Along with various reports and images we are also excited to announce that we have a camera crew on board filming a good mix of on and off schedule shows. Check the site regularly for all the latest updates. And if that wasn’t enough we’ll also be taking a look at the mainstream womenswear trends over at Pure, Olympia. Talk about a fashion fuelled week!
