My, it’s grand to be back!  After an action packed all-on trip to Toronto and New York I came back to a chaotic home life.  In particularly a grumpy husband and three slightly grubby looking children.  Worse still a bad tempered mother–in-law!

The trip was an excellent learning opportunity with some brilliant retailing and networking opportunities arising. Are there any talented childrenswear designers who would like to experience an internment in New York? A childrenswear company that has a $55m turnover specialising in children’s dresses is looking for a highly talented designer to supply all New York’s major retailers. For the right person this is a fabulous opportunity. Interested?  Call me for further details.

In New York, one company that completely blew me away was The Hunts Point. Set up in the heart of one of the poorest urban towns in the States, the Bronx, The Hunts Point is a ground breaking project that enables disadvantaged teenagers a chance to explore their creative talents. Joseph Mcelroy has taken the lead on helping talented artists and designers to create labels and artwork that is truly inspiring.

Many of the designs are suitable for t-shirts and hoodies.

The proposed exchange with Netherlands was also discussed and we are now waiting for confirmation on the exact labels from Netherlands to participate in exchange programme. We will carefully match and screen the designers together to ensure that it is mutually successful for all concerned and the LFF will be playing a lead role during the UK visit.

Many thanks to Bronwyn Lowenthal from Lowie, Shola Adekoya from La’Flicks Design, Hannah Marshall from Hannah Marshall, Rebel Dogg, Nicola O’ Rourke from Apizadoo, Niki from Olanic and David Russell from Icon Shoes who have applied for the exchange programme from the UK.  Confirmation details will follow shortly.

Big Welcome to Lucy Wills who is about to go live on the boutique. Lucy has a unique design talent re-sculpturing and designing vintages pieces of jewellery that are quite breathtaking. Many congratulations on opening your account with Johnny Rocket. Click here for further information.

deco style necklace and earrings

A fabulous ‘deco’ style glass beaded ’emerald parure’. This wonderful set is a wonderful evocation of an age of decadence and elegance.

We can tell by the unique visitors hit rate that the web-ring has been exceptionally well received.  Linking up the Fashion Industry UK wide can only benefit everyone.
