Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

We are ready to roll with Bluewater – many thanks to Graham Hitchen and Robin Bramble of the London Development Agency. This is a unique project and a fantastic opportunity for London based designers to sell their garments in the premier shopping centre in Europe. With over 27 million guest visiting Bluewater  each year with an average dwell time of over 2.5 hours the LFF is like a dog with two tails at the moment! The opportunities for the designers, our business partners et al are enormous and we welcome all of you on board with this exciting new project.

Management team: Anna Brown,Tania Stowe, Rachael Coomber-Nolan, Alan Jones

Already we have had replies from over 60 designers who are interested in the Bluewater space. The terms are simple £150 a week rent plus a 25% commission on sales. The LFF is a not for profit organisation and the commission has been calculated to cover costs such as the boutique Manageress plus assistants, a mini shopfit, a pod system for www.fashioncapital to be displayed etc. Designers have to pay for the rent in advance and sales turnover will be distributed to each designer on a weekly basis. The minimum occupancy term is for two weeks giving everyone flexibility.  David Jones, our Director and Chair,  is now signing off the lease agreement and fingers crossed that we will be opening in two weeks time. The clock is ticking for Christmas and naturally we want all designers to reap maximum sales. A further update will be posted on fashioncapital next Monday so keep yourself tuned in!

Many thanks to Nick Fenner, the new partner at the well renowned legal firm Fladgate Fielder. The site has opened for business on the Legal Eagle page and this is just a taster of information to come. Nick will be opening a questions and answers area (shortly) and will regularly post information on the site. Naturally the doors are open at Fladgate Fielder to all who may have a legal matter that needs to be discussed. A home page banner advert is being created for Fladgate Fielder so you can make contact directly.

The Museum section is now officially soft-launched and as you can see by the images uploaded on the 1960s section. Remember you have to be a member to access this part of the site and registration is free and easy

This new Museum section is going to be HUGE! The British Library have done a sterling job on sourcing truly inspiring images and we are now waiting for images from Beth Ward from the Museum of London and their current exhibition The London Look “Fashion from street to catwalk”.

We have had a lot of recent enquiries from budding childrenswear designers so the merry band at LFF have been at work researching the market for statistics and snippets of information. Not all organisations have been entirely helpful but we have managed to glean some information for you kind courtesy of Key Note reports, Drapers Record and our journalist extraordinaire Jo Ills.
