The Factory blog 6/1/12
06-01-2012
I hope everybody had a nice break as last year was a hard year for a lot of people and I am sure the break was well deserved especially for our machinists and factory managers. It must have been hard waking up Tuesday morning with a fresh face, ready for work after such a relaxing Christmas break. Nothing changed for us over Christmas; in fact they had to finish up where they left off. The asos cross back body sold out before the Christmas and they had to make a repeat order that got sent out yesterday. Another order for 1000 cross back bodies has been made and has to be made and sent out by next week. Everywhere you look in the factory you’re blinded by bright pink garments as a mass order of 1000 dresses have been made for lipsy. ‘Pineapple’ are here as I’m writing this and if everything goes accordingly they could be our company’s latest client which is exciting. My name is Tia Moore and I am writing from the factory and it is now my third day, I am enjoying the busy environment and fascinated by some of the work that the machinist can produce so quickly. The amount of clothes that get produced here per day is unbelievable.

My love of Arts came from something as small as painting by numbers which I got as a present for my 11th birthday. My concentration level was always my downfall in achieving things but when I was painting I realised how focused and determined I was to finish it perfectly. I had finally found something I was good at as well as enjoyed and whenever I was angry stressed or sad I had found my solution. Painting and drawing had a way of soothing me, making me feel calm. From then onwards I knew that I wanted to have a career in the creative industry.
My friends all started to compliment me on the way I style my outfit’s everyday and considering I I loved practical work, I was recommended to join a fashion and textiles course. Within days of me starting this course I knew straight away that this was the path I wanted to go down, but being in college I still didn’t feel exposed enough to the industry. Although I was gaining a lot of knowledge on this course I didn’t feel I was gaining the correct skills I needed for such a competitive career path.
I then joined an apprenticeship scheme with Fashion Capital where I learn and earn whilst gaining a recognised qualification. And here I am now blogging from the factory, in the heart of where all the action takes place. It’s like a dream come true.
I’ll update you next week with how I’ve been getting along.
