Getting cute with Orla Kiely – LFW Friday 16th September 2011
17-09-2011
I have always been a lover of Orla’s style – whether I am wearing her dress, carrying her bag or drinking out of her mug – the premium designs with a commercial price tag are refreshing, chic and innovative.
From the new collection there is a consistent theme of rural and feminine charm. The pretty little dresses with floral and ice cream coloured prints are designed with a quirky edge, so they avoid being childlike but appeal to the career focused and urban living woman.
For example the knee length, salmon pink prom skirt could easily be office wear with a crisp white shirt, or with the right accessories (long peal necklaces perhaps) and a white vest top, a great outfit for a weekend event. Whatever the occasion, this skirt is an essential for the Fashionista’s summer wardrobe.
The contemporary shapes and cuts also took these clothes out of just another country girl look, and showed that Orla is a key contender for influencing the masses with her range. Flattering playsuits, dynamic printed trousers and flowing shift dresses highlight that this will be a popular purchase when the spring lines hit the rails – well, for investment shoppers like me anyway!
