‘Rewind the Tape’ Celebrates Fashion from the 80s & 90s

Co-curated by Double Decker, REWIND THE TAPE puts the spotlight on the subcultures that shaped a generation. From Goth to New Romantic, Acid Rave to Pop and everything in between, for one night only the Design Museum is the 80s and 90s.
REWIND THE TAPE will showcase leading and emerging contemporary talent, including DJs, directors, photographers, designers and makers, each influenced by the 80s and 90s. Paula Reed will chair a number of talks with young fashion talentas well as launching her new books ‘Fashion in the 80s’ and ‘Fashion in the 90s’.
Live installations and activities include:
- Paula Reed in conversation with emerging fashion designers.
- Exhibition of work by emerging photographers, illustrators and filmmakers.
- 80s and 90s themed make-over sessions by London College of Fashion.
- Live catwalk show of emerging fashion talent.
- Upcoming DJ’s including Edifeye and Siobhan Bell will take to the decks.
- Poster room of iconic pop stars from the 80s and 90s.
- A selection of archive MTV logo’s projected onto the museum exterior.
- Tote bag screen printing with Oscar Whale.
- Exclusive film screenings by new directors including MVA and ASVOFF awarded Zaiba Jabber.
- Live MC sets by Wonder and ItsNate and acoustic performance by Olivia Sebastianelli.
The exhibition ‘Hello, My Name is Paul Smith’, celebrating Paul Smith’s creativity and inspiration will be open throughout the evening.
