2. About the project and workshops
Africa Inspires is a project of the International Trade Centre (ITC) aimed at building sustainable trade relationships with African communities, businesses and organisations in the fashion and textiles sector, and consequently reducing poverty.
Project components include organising workshops, supporting a facilitating sourcing from Africa by fashion businesses and ensuring quality standards and lead in times are met, provision of market information , certification and communication of ethical standards with consumers and buyers.
The Ethical Fashion Forum is working in partnership with the International Trade Centre to encourage engagement with this project by the fashion industry.
Workshops will take place in Kenya between the 26th and the 28th November 2007
The workshops are aimed at fashion (including clothing, shoes, accessories and jewellery), textiles, and interior product designers and buyers. The workshops will be open to up to 25 participants, invited from all over the world. Participation is on a first come first served basis and registration is essential.

These workshops are free of charge to designers and buyers invited to take part. The International Trade Centre will also cover accommodation costs (bed and breakfast), organisation and travel costs of field trips while in Kenya, as detailed on the programme in the attached document.
Workshop participants are required to organise and cover costs for their international travel to and from Nairobi, as well as meals and general expenses in Kenya.

4. Preparing for the trip:
If you are interested in attending this workshop, you need to consider vaccinations and precautions against malaria as soon as possible.

All British passport holders require a visa for Kenya. Refer to www.kenyahighcommission.net/visas.html for guidelines.
According to this website: visa applications presented at the counter are ready for collection after 3 working days, and postal applications take about 1 week from the date of receipt. However, it is advisable to make visa arrangements as soon as possible in case of delays.
