06-07-2011

It was reveled that Boris Johnson paired up with BBC’s The Apprentice’s winner, Tom Campbell and urged London’s biggest employers to increase the openings of apprenticeships for younger people. Channel 4, IBM, HSBC and Microsoft are just some of the few that answered their calls.

Boris Johnson said that ‘In difficult times, it is vital that we do all we can to create jobs and opportunities for the next generation.
‘Whether it’s in banking, financial services, technology, media or the arts, we’ve sought to ensure that these young people are poised to take advantage of any opportunities that arise for them in the future, so that London is well poised to lead the rest of the UK out of recession.’

Around 2,000 apprenticeships have been created in organisations such as Transport for London aswell.

London has the largest growth of apprenticeships in the country.
