BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion

23-01-2006

The BA(Hons) Fashion Promotion course at UCLan has been running for over 15 years and was the first one of its kind in the country. We are the only course to have an industrial placement which gives our students a head start when entering the industry as a graduate.

The course has gained an excellent reputation throughout the fashion industry for producing innovative, creative and professional graduates.  Our graduates have positions with companies like Adidas, Exposure PR, Diesel, Nike, Reebok, Alexander McQueen, WGSN, Jo Malone, Marks & Spencer, and Modus PR to name a few. Our links with the industry offer excellent opportunities for work placement and also mean we get the chance to welcome specialists to UCLan who can give an insight into working in fashion promotion.

The course is structured over a four-year period of study with a six-month placement taken in the third year.  The placements give students vital experience for their final year’s work and future career prospects. The range of choice in work experience covers trend prediction, styling, public relations, marketing, promotion, visual merchandising, fashion media and journalism.  The opportunities are exciting and varied and placements are sought throughout Europe, the Far East, and the Americas as well as the UK.  At UCLan, students benefit from purpose-built studios and workshops for fashion promotion, including photographic studios, audio visual and computer imaging facilities.

Regular shows and exhibitions are an important aspect of the Fashion Department.  The Fashion Design and Fashion Promotion courses join forces at venues such as Graduate Fashion Week, Clothes Show Live and here at the University for Arts Week. Our Fashion Promotion students have won prestigious awards such as the RSA Student Design Awards, Graduate Fashion Week’s Creative Fashion Marketing and Accessories Awards, and Student Adshel Design Awards.
