Fashion and Brand Promotion (Combined Honours)

Fashion and Brand Promotion at UCLan deals with all aspects of the promotions and brand industry, from advertising to visual merchandising.  Students develop an innovative approach to the subject through UCLan’s strong links within the fashion promotion industry.

During the three-year course a number of visiting speakers from the industry give students an informed insight into their chosen career path.  We also expect our students to increase their knowledge by individual research.  We are keen to encourage individual students to apply who wish to express and develop their creativity as artists and designers.  This is a demanding but rewarding course and a strong commitment to fashion and brand recognition is expected and encouraged.  Students will develop skills in the following areas: photography, journalism, graphic layout, visual presentation, advertising, market research and reports, trend prediction, and multimedia computer work.

The teaching and learning methods used reflect this rich mix of subjects.  We create a lively and stimulating learning environment in the studios through crits, tutorials, seminars and lectures.

In stage one all students take Introduction to Fashion and Brand Promotion and Development of Promotional Campaigns.  At stage two students have the choice of specialist modules including Promoting Fashion Related Products, Creating and Developing Personal Promotional Campaigns, Product Development, Fashion Studies, and Fashion Promotion Studies.

This subject is part of the Combined Honours Programme and must be taken in combination with other subjects.  Fashion and Brand Promotion can combine with a number of subjects depending on the career path you may wish to pursue, but we would recommend Design Studies, Audio Visual Media, Journalism, Marketing, Languages, Economics, Business, or Media Production and Technology.

Career opportunities exist in buying, magazine and newspaper journalism, advertising, multi media production, graphic layout, visual merchandising and many other fashion-related areas.  There are also further education opportunities with combined post graduate degrees.
