Recent employers include companies such as Arcadia Group, Alexander McQueen, Next, George, Donna Karen, Selfridges and Marks and Spencer.
Programme
Fashion Design encompasses a wide range of projects, including briefs from designer labels through to the high street. This enables students to gain specialist design and technical expertise relevant to a range of fashion activities. Design of womenswear, menswear and childrenswear features in a variety of modules, with students developing their work from initial design concept through to the finished garment.
Year One develops fundamental fashion design skills, historical and cultural studies and computer-aided design. Year Two students choose from several optional modules including bra/basques, knitwear, and style and colour prediction. This provides professional attributes and skills for various roles within this challenging and exciting industry. The major project in Year Three gives students an opportunity to set their own briefs and produce a final collection of garments.
Teaching/assessment
Teaching encompasses design studio practice, formal lectures, group seminars, tutorials, exhibition and store visits, presentations and practical workshops. Assessment occurs at the end of each semester with informal critiques held at appropriate times throughout the year.
