Bath in Fashion: Fashion Your Future

 This event is a must for anyone who has ever wanted to work in fashion. Career clinic and career speed dating will bring insight into the many opportunities available within the fashion industry. Think: design, marketing, retail, beauty, photography, journalism and styling. If you have ever wondered what a retail manager, designer or stylist actually do, now is your chance to find out from the professionals. Recent Graduates, current students and experts will share their stories.

Sarah Mower, a critic for American Vogue who was awarded the MBE last October for Services to the fashion Industry, will launch the event. Bath born and raised, Sarah writes columns for British newspapers, is a Visiting Professor at Central Saint Martins College of Art, and the first British Fashion Council’s Ambassador for Emerging Talent.

The panel of experts also includes:

• Monica Ross, Vice President Digital Merchandising for Burberry
• Jo Harrington, store manager of Banana Republic, who will talk about life at the coal face
• FashionCapital Director Jennifer Holloway, who began her career as a buyer and went on to produce her own label
• John Walford, who brings years’ of show production experience from London Fashion Week, and has worked with a long list of top designers, including Vivienne Westwood.
• Louise Pickles, Head of Fashion at Bath Spa University, will act as chair and referee.

The panel will be followed by chill time with Bath Spa University students to talk one to one about life as a fashion student. Bath Spa University’s fashion design graduates have made a significant impact in the fashion industry and it is now one of the most sought after fashion courses in the UK.

Bath Collage will also be represented to talk about the vast range of vocational courses they offer and career potential at the sharp end of the beauty business.

After the serious business, Benefit will be on hand with their Brow Bar and Spirit Contemporary Photography will work their magic with mini makeovers and offer a window into the world of photography.
