Floral appeal
06-08-2008
From delicate daisies and fairytale forget-me-nots, floral was a key component during the recent 2008 spring/summer runway shows.
So, harvest your floral attire for summer because this trend is in full bloom.

With blossoming baby-dolls, overgrown oversized shirts and blouses to boot, catwalk designers have stretched the limitations with flower patterns, prints and especially accessories, thus proving; that vintage is all about personalisation with panache, while contemporary looks can achieve much more with colourful accents, trims and frills.
Ralph Lauren stipulates femininity with a botanical flourish accompanied only by the tone of black in the Spring 2008 RTW show, while Reem Acra emphasises the shapely contours of form with her sheer flirty fabrics that caress the body with a glove-like fit.
It is evident that on the street many have been cultivated by the versatility of floral fabrics, and while dresses are teamed with neutral jeans and tights to create fresh dynamic daytime looks; some have opted for bolder, brighter, bigger prints to stand out from the crowd.
A mixed bouquet of clothing styles is available in the high-street to lend to the popularity of the trend, with stores providing staple garments such as the high-waisted skirt, the work blouse, and shoes and accessories in an array of prints.

Luella Bartley is patently covering all things youthful in buttercup yellows and delicate roses with fine, flowery finesse and it is clear that floral will be a hit this season.
