Introducing…Joe Prince.
What have I gotten myself into? It was only a fortnight ago when I sent an email to LLF suggesting that I write a few articles for the website as I have just started my new online retail business and I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with the Forum.
Literally within minutes, industry advisor, Jenny Holloway was on the other end of the telephone asking me to submit my first fortnightly article and a synopsis of the next 6! Note to self…when you have a romantic notion of being the North East’s answer to Carrie Bradshaw, think it through before you click the ‘send’ button. So now you’re stuck with me and my fashion tidbits for the foreseeable future.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nadia Clark and I am the proud owner of the online vintage boutique Joe Prince (www.joeprincevintage.com). I am also a stylist and personal shopper which is a million miles away from my previous career as a solicitor (much to the frustration of my parents!). Fashion has always been an enormous passion of mine and it p
However, up until now, fashion has always taken a back-seat as far as my career is concerned as I was discouraged from pursuing what was described to me as a ‘flaky, dead-end job’. But last year, after 7 years of studying and working in the legal profession I decided to jack it all in and find a ‘flaky, dead-end job’. I worked as a style advisor for Topshop to test the water and see if this is want I wanted to do on a permanent basis and I loved it! The experience I gained was invaluable and at the beginning of this year, I finally decided to take the plunge and venture out on my own.
Joe Prince (don’t ask me about the name yet…it’s way too embarrassing to tell you and we’ve only just met!) was born out of my obsession for vintage clothing and the styling and personal shopping aspect of the business was born out of my obsession for dressing people up like my very own Barbie doll! As part of my business expansion, I thought it would be interesting to dabble in a little journalism.
Please do not expect any ground-breaking, head-line grabbing news in my articles. It’s all just a bit of frivolous fun. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be writing about different aspects of fashion, including new trends, designers, some with a vintage slant and some possibly with a northern slant…just to shake things up in the Capital. Until next time…love & luck, from Joe Prince.
