It is important to consistently re focus PR activity to suit industry developments, trends and new gained knowledge as well as to out stand competitors. So here are some hints and tips on how to sell your own brand!
When approaching fashion buyers, the media or potential customers, it is very important to know who you are dealing with first. Research the company well so you know exactly why you are contacting them and why they will like your product. Ask yourself: ‘why should they like my product’?
Make sure that the brand meets your company’s profile, if you approach a company that has no relation to your market it is a waste of time.
Use case studies and past successes to get your point across. If you have testimonials of how impressed other customers, companies or media have been with your product – use it as ‘ammunition’ to prove that you have a good product. If you have not got any testimonials, seek them!
Follow the list of tips below before approaching each customer / company to ensure you get the best results from your approach:
1.Research the potential customer thoroughly, if they have a website, visit it and read the history of the brand. Is it right for you and vice versa?
2.Get to know their strongest and weakest points, you can tell them how you can improve their brand for the future through them using / stocking your product.
3.Always research the correct contact name. You want to speak to the right person who can help you for best results.
4.Consider all questions they may ask you, if you don’t know the answer, they will loose interest.
5.Make sure you mention all of the positive points of your product and know why they should want to buy into it. f your product is a favourite with the media, it will be with buyers too, so get those all important column inches!
6.Aim to arrange a face to face meeting so that you can show your product to them physically. Or at least send them some images and further information.
7.Tell them when you will send it so they can look out for it, and say you will call them shortly after to ensure they have received it. Persistence and organisation is key!
8.Once you have sent your company profile and have phoned them to confirm they have received it, respect the fact they may be busy and give them chance to read through it.
9.Phone them within 24 hours to see if they have read it and if they are interested, if they are you can take this further.
