DESIGNER ANISA JOHNNY COMBINES ETHNIC AFRICAN PRINTS WITH MODERN EUROPEAN SILHOUETTES TO PRODUCE AN EXCITING COLLECTION EXCLUSIVELY AVALABLE AT THE LFF BOUTIQUE , KINGLY COURT.

The vivid colours and vibrant energy characteristic to the printed textiles of Africa is exploited to its highest and most beautiful potential within the work of designer Anisa Johnny with her collection of ultra feminine and wearable womenswear range Anisa & Company. Anisa’s collection is launched perfectly for this season, with African inspired prints at the height of cool for summer 2005.  Born in the U.K her collection is inspired from her African origins and photographs dating back to the seventies of her mother and aunts who also inspired her work “ With their huge afros and big flared jeans.” 

Originally from a fashion marketing background Anisa & Co. was launched in 2000 at London Fashion Week, and has proved to be a massive success ever since.  Keen to mix her African roots with her cosmopolitan European upbringing, Anisa has combined the influences in order to produce her range of ethnic African inspired prints with the contemporary silhouettes from the European fashion market.

The clothes are designed with the idea of the traditional African wrapping techniques in mind and adapted to become modern and wearable. They are designed not to be skin tight, but to find elegance and style within a range that doesn’t need to show flesh in order for the wearer to look sexy and feel great. “ There is a definite sexiness in subtlety.”  Anisa adds.

The range consists of wearable garments you can dress up for an evening out or wear in the day to work, summer dresses which can be worn as skirts, cotton summer strapless tops, colourful A line skirts and a gorgeous printed cropped cape top. 

Each garment has individual charm and character; pieces are easy to wear and to individualise. Made from light easy to wear fabrics, like cotton, linen, and jersey they’re teamed with the bold African printed wax cotton there is something to suit a whole range of tastes and styles.
