                            ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND COLOURFUL

The Notting Hill Carnival for many years has been filled with abundance of colour and was by far the best summer party of the year. Designers are inspired by colour all the time, and every season brings in the next big colour story. Last season it was shades of blue, and for Autumn/Winter 2005 we will be dominated by black. The coming season will not be as bleak as it seems, exquisiteness and sharp technical detailing with a clean silhouette will brighten things up.

Notting Hill Carnival is a breathtaking event to see all cultures under one umbrella. And it was music, dance and art that brought everyone together. This was my very first time at the carnival, and I have become a fan.

The route of the parade stretched from Westbourne Park, and went through Westbourne Grove, Ladbroke grove, and finishing up in Kensal Town. We walked the whole route following the parade. It was very busy and fun all at the same time. The views were amazing.

The procession included many elaborate but eye catching costumes. They ranged from heavily layered skirts to caricature corsets. There was a lot of bling, and sparkling fabric on display. It was indeed a glamourous event. The more bigger the costume, the more diva queen the dancer became.

Fashion’s from the day were very bright.  Revellers were out in full force donning the boho look, reggae chic, and beach blossom trends. It was hot but everybody was still making the most of the summer sunshine. The Notting Hill Carnival will grow stronger from year to year. Gossip is it might be moving to Hyde Park, so if this was the last time at Notting Hill, then I can safely say it will be one to remember.
