Jo Carey Street trends – Brown is best
13-10-2005
Brown is impacting on the streets in smaller blocks and accent colours as opposed to head-to-toe effects prominent on the catwalks. Palettes range from paler shades of pale taupe and biscuit to rich russet browns, tans and chocolate. Co-ordinate brown within an outfit or use as an accessory theme throughout, from scarf through to belt and shoes.
Brown looks hot teamed with teal and peacock blues at Marni or Betty Jackson. Karen Walker opted for vivid flame red as accessory accent against rich chocolate browns, while Burberry Prorsum update the perennial trenchcoat in earth-toned satin.
Brown palettes are often associated with tweeds, worsteds and woven chequered fabrics, lending a country or aristocratic feel to city living. However, watch for rich brown and copper shades adding glamour to eveningwear and updating metallic and high sheen fabrications throughout the coming party season.
