New Chairperson at the thriving WCTA.

“With our unique relationship with LFF and FashionCapital we are looking forward to developing stronger links with London for our Welsh based designers. We are engaged in a host of possible projects with the LFF, such as Vision, which is to be held  March 23rd, 24th and 25th 2006 at the Millennium Stadium. Jenny is working with us over the next few days to confirm ways forward that mutually benefit the designer, the manufacturers and also the centre here at the Parc. ” Virginia Teague Chairperson WCTA

New Chairperson - Virgina TeagueVirginia Teague was appointed the new chair of the WCTA at a steering group meeting on the 26th October 05. Virginia has been involved with textiles for many years, and has a vast knowledge of not just her own specialist subject hand weaving, but also of the industry as a whole.

Virginia has also been involved with the WCTA for many years, and has been heavily involved in the organising of various events. Virginia is presently employed at the Textile centre as Project manager, and as a specialist consultant.

Upon being elected Virginia said: “Whilst it is impossible to replace Huw, I am looking to continue the work he started. I would like the Association to work at raising the profile of the Textile sector in Wales. In spite of the views expressed by certain groups, there is still a vibrant industry here in Wales that deserves support and it is the job of the WCTA to get this across.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas about the future work of the Association I would be very glad to hear them so feel free to contact me.”
