When you actually work in industry you have to develop your own administration base that works for you. Education can be important for today’s budding fashion entrepreneur but it does suit everyone. I know talented designers that have done it there way and bucked the educational system and likewise there are designers out there that have been on foundation design courses and BA courses too. As in life it’s horses for courses.

However, whichever way you make your entrance into the fashion world you will need tools of the trade to  help you.

We at FashionCapital are going to be providing you with a host of tools that include the following:-

–    Contract for Goods and Services – can save you a good £1,500 by providing you with an overview of legal terms and conditions to commence trading.

–    Confidentiality Agreement – how do you stop buyers potentially infringing your copyright? Can you trust the manufacturers to make the garment just for you?

–    Memorandum and Articles of Association – if you want to be a limited company you have to have one!

–    Docket – what is it? If you go to a factory without one they won’t take your seriously!

–    Size chart and measurement guide – an absolute must and a good starting point for you to make sure your grading is along the right lines.

–    Progress sheet – these provided the basis of following a garment from conception through to production when I worked at M&S!

–    Q.C. forms – how do you do a factory in work check?

Each week we will be providing you with a new tool of the trade that  will be housed in the document library as well as the correct potential subsection on the site too.

Please note that the information is for guide purposes only and as such can be adapted for your own particular use.

Just another reason why www.fashioncapital.co.uk is the fastest growing fashion portal in the UK today.

The first Tool of the Trade is the contract and will be going live this week.
