Amelia’s Fashion Diary:
20-08-2007
For the first time in my life I am able to find my keys within the first the minute of looking for them. No-more constant rummaging and looks from my boyfriend that read: In your own time darling, I mean it’s only raining and of course we are much more happy on this side of the door than inside our warm, dry flat. And it is all thanks to my envelope clutch bag.
This could be my one fashion saviour, much smaller than my usual tote, yet bigger than the classic clutch which refuses to hold more than your phone and credit card, and the sheer beauty of it is that it can be used day or night. I also have yet to leave it anywhere, which seemed to happen with the predecessor small clutch a little too often for my liking.
Along with my small clutch in the seasonal wardrobe clear out is last summer’s wooden bangles obsession, now I will be adorning my wrist with a much lighter accessory; the plastic bangle. Both Chanel and Pucci have brought out simply stunning plastic bangles for this season (although mine will be high-street copies) these instantly add colour to the more subtle berry and charcoal tones we will be wearing this winter.
However, one accessory which I still can’t get my head around is the warrior winter look. Studs and zips have never been my thing, they are fine at a fetish party but for office wear I have to draw the line. The only way I can see them sneaking into my wardrobe is very subtly, for instance with the new Ferretti studded shoes, but the new Christian Louboutin boots I have to say no to. Not only are they painful when you grab them out of your wardrobe quickly but also give that don’t mess with me look, which we always seem to fall into during the winter season. Last year it was masculine tailoring, and now warrior woman, anticipation is definitely building up for what designers are going to create for Fall/Winter 2008 but in the meantime we have the Spring/Summer 08 collections to look forward to. Just what you need when you’ve had a practically non-existent summer!
While I am on the subject of the Spring/Summer collections I have to confess its all show talk in the office at the moment; what to wear, which shows to go to and what parties to attend. Each day there seems to be something new on the agenda, I’m already looking forward to seeing Luella Bartley and Matthew Williamson back on the London schedule. To satisfy my shopping fix there’s the London Fashion Weekend, offering designer labels at bargain prices, as well as style and beauty advice from the experts. And those North of the UK needn’t miss out either as Grazia will be hosting a Fashion Weekend in Manchester for the first time ever.
