Today, Saturday 15th September, may well be the start of the official LFW schedule but for TopShop Unique the party had already begun. Phillip Green and his crew showcased their Spring/Summer 08 designs late Friday afternoon with plenty of fashion press in attendance taking notes.

Over at the British Fashion Council tent the next day however, the season commenced in a relaxed manner with established names such as: Ben De Lisi, Paul Costelloe and Ashley Isham filling the schedule.

First on the agenda for the FashionCapital team was Caroline Charles. Here is a designer who understands her market and delivers well-cut flattering designs with lashings of commercial appeal. She is not re-inventing the wheel, and nor does she claim to. Daywear consisted of safari style separates, leopard prints, classic wide-leg pants and lean-line tunics in a palette of neutrals, gold, deep blue and white. As the collection progressed into evening out came the embellishment; sequins and beading decorated necklines appearing as dramatic jewellery from afar. Rounding off with two stunning wedding gowns Caroline left her core fans nodding and applauding in approval.

More LFW action coming soon…
