London Fashion Week Day 2 – Frocks Rule
16-09-2007
It’s only day 2 here at Fashion Week and already key themes are emerging from the designer collections. Glamour and Grecian are in plentiful supply come Spring 08 from Julia Clancey’s kimono sleeved sequined creations to Kristian Aadnevik’s bondage meets Barbarella frocks. While we are on the subject of Kristian‘s show, who by the way is Donatella Versace’s latest protégé, a last minute re-location resulted in an outdoor Mews location – all the more dramatic with the breeze ruffling those lightweight chiffons, fringing and feathers. As delicate as that sounds the collection, entitled ’Ameneon’, was toughened up with buckles and body cinching corsets. Add a liberal dose of metallic sheen and you begin to get the picture.

Other highlights came from PPQ; tropical prints combined with boxy proportions – too cool for school goes on holiday in hues of purple, jade, pastels and of course black and white. The Gareth Pugh show caused an all out frenzy with everyone wanting a piece of the action. While Stuart Rose and Erin O’Connor voiced positive comments about this season’s event at the pre-breakfast show, reminding us all of how the industry greatly supports the UK economy and LFW is better than ever with heavyweights Matthew Williamson, Luella and Stella McCartney for Adidas on the schedule. And that’s not all, international press is on the up too, even Ms Anna Wintour has been gracing the event with her presence – good news for all concerned.
More from the shows soon…
