LFW: Christoforos Kotentos – Queens at War

15-02-2008

A celebration of femininity and fantasy 'Queens at War'
presented a celebration of the strong, warrior female informed by his vision of
a dynamic future. An incredible collection with clear influences of strong
women from the past such as Cleopatra and Boudicca fused with futuristic images
of women ready for battle in the most stylish of senses.

Silver grey metallic, shiny black jersey and black and white
brocade created the armour like garments. Throughout the collection the cross
represented in Kotentos’ logo was a dominant feature, whether as a subtle
detail or the structure behind the entire garment.

Jackets were padded to create impact, fabrics draped effortlessly
around the body with billowing sleeves and hooded dresses and jackets. Panels
were structured geometrically, voluminous coats were belted and high-necks,
helms and leather over-the-knee boots all added to the strong, warrior
exterior.

Overall a consistent and intelligent collection. Each
garment was well thought out with a clear direction and at the same time
positively stylish and fashion forward.

We were lucky enough to meet with the designer himself. Check out the full video interview below.
