Fun came in the shape of Shoes, Cosmos and Liberty London

25-02-2008

Already in full swing, I found myself smoozing with the most
established shoe designers of the fashion world and those who adored them.
Sporting my own Choo’s I fought the overwhelming need to swoon about shoes to
the man himself but somehow I managed to control myself with the help of the
free flowing cosmos being served.

With a freshly refilled cocktail glass in hand I found
myself appreciating the beautiful shoes made by the Cordwainers alumni and
displayed around the room. The exquisite works of art had the attendees ohhhing
and ahhhing in a way only true shoe lovers can.

For the London College of Fashion, to be awarded such a
prize not only puts another feather in the already prestigious school but also
acknowledges the continued excellence of the Colleges footwear and accessories
design, development and teaching practice and the contribution the courses make
to the economic, cultural and social life of the UK.

Recent graduates

For those not in the know, the Cordwainers at London College
of Fashion was founded 120 years ago. It has since demonstrated success through
its students who have gone on to establish themselves as major forces in their
industry. So in no attempt at all to name drop, one must admit that graduates
such as Jimmy Choo, Linda Bennett, Emma Hope and Terry de Havilland do indeed
make for an impressive list of alumni.

As the party winded down, it seemed that not many were ready
to leave. With hand made chocolate stilettos shoes to be eaten (they were being
handed out by the waiting staff) and fabulous champagne to wash it all down
with, leaving was the last thing on everyone’s mind.

Soon enough 9pm struck, I couldn’t believe 2 hours had past
by so quickly and it was on that note that I decided that if I was to have one
more glass of a “little something” I would be walking out of the party bare
foot as it would have made it an impossible task to walk out of Liberty in a
lady like manner in my high Choos. So grabbing a chocolate stiletto to munch on
whilst I made my way home, I was happy to have been invited to celebrate with
not only a school but a University that has and continues to churn out so many
fashion greats. My last words on the matter are “long may it continue”.
