Summer Heights
16-05-2008
With such a variety of styles for the summer, it is comforting to know that every one of them will look fabulous with a wedge or platform sandal. The wedge is carefree and playful. The platform is sexy and fun. So try both shoe styles out and see which one fits your personality and your wardrobe best!
Wedges
There are a wide variety of wedge shoes to choose from this summer. Strappy and printed cloth sandals seem to be the most popular based on the wide selection available for purchase. Although most wedges are considered more casual with cork or hemp-roped soles, some such as the gold ones from Sigerson Morrson are better suited for dressy occasions (and offer a welcome relief to stiletto-abused feet).

Platforms
The platform shoes this summer follow a couple main trends. They have wooded soles, leather straps and super high heels. Not only does this style of footwear demand authority because of its hard look (compared to delicate flats for example), but the sound of the wood heel against the floor is sure to turn a few heads.
Stell McCartney’s engraved wooden platform is a great example of innovation with the heel, and Lanvin’s platform gladiator screams that the wearer is tough and in charge.

This summer offers an opportunity to experiment with different styles and trends. Whether you’re prim and proper one day in neoclassical businesswoman attire or carefree and funky the next in a 70s style jersey dress, make sure you’re well-heeled on a wedge or platform shoe.
