Now this is what Enterprise is really about working with Croydon College.
19-11-2008
Over the last 9 years of providing business support the staff of Fashion Enter realised over two years ago that seminars without a commercial or business "hook" are over and out! Sitting in a classroom environment discussing theory and ethos even with a strong guest speaker is not the way forward. Its time for business support organisations to be more innovative and provide the right learning opportunities for tomorrows' Entrepreneurs.

Fashion Enter is delighted to announce a new styled learning experience with Croydon College! Tomorrow over 15 fashion students will be showcasing their designs to the 1230 Women's Group in a relaxed but business environment. Following a hands on seminar last week to set the brief Fashion Enter discussed the business requirements of packaging, labelling, price point structure, press and PR and far more besides. Now its time for action and put the theory into reality by selling directly to the highly influential group of business women with disposable income! This is excellent timing of course because its Enterprise Week!

Enterprise Week commencing 17th until 23rd November 2008 is part of a Global Entrepreneurship Week and is a national celebration of enterprise with thousands of events and activities happening across the UK. Last year there were over 5,000 events and more than half a million people took part!
Over 2,000 organisation run events and activities during the week to encourage people to have ideas and make them happen. This can be by starting up a new business or social enterprise, or by having ideas and making them happen in the workplace.
For the first time this year Enterprise Week will be part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week. It's a worldwide celebration of enterprise, which aims to unleash young people's enterprising ideas and address some of society's biggest issues, from poverty reduction through to climate change. More than 70 countries are currently signed up to run their very own versions of Enterprise Week, all coming under the banner of Global Entrepreneurship Week!
So what does Enterprise really mean?
Basically converting ideas into business! Having an idea and then making it happen! For this to actually occur you need a skill set that include having KNOWLEDGE but its how knowledge is then presented to the target group. Knowledge has to cover being creative, solving a problem, being able to sell your ideas, being resourceful, taking calculated risks and having the financial capacity to make an idea a reality. You have also got to be able to take the initiative yourself and be proactive in what you do.
So good luck to the talented students of Croydon College tomorrow and to the "enterprising spirit" of Marilyn Willis Course Head.
