22-04-2013
However, in recent years, new areas of the market are starting to boom, namely pre-owned and collections for women. This year, many luxury watch brands are mixing heritage with modern demands by releasing their most feminine lines to date. Here are the five of the best to look out for.
Vacheron Constantin Metiers d’Arts Collection

Vacheron Constantin claims that this new women’s line is compromised of ‘genuine works of art’ as well as being practical timepieces. Their new pieces within the collection have unmistakable oriental motifs with traditional floral patterned dials and snake symbols as a celebration of the Chinese New Year. These are a contrast to other more traditional pieces in the collection which are jewel encrusted in white gold. The iconic brand which was set up in the mid 18th century is definitely modernising with the times along with so many other luxury brands.
Baume and Mercier Linea Collection

Baume and Mercier have created a versatile range of watches for their Linea collection which can be worn for any occasion. The collection ranges from pieces with woven leather straps to stylish quartz and two-toned metallic finishes, each with an interchangeable strap. The collection has grown since its introduction in 1987. Baume and Mercier say that the Linea collection now embraces ‘both evocative beauty and technical prowess’.
Tag Heuer Link Collection

Tag Heuer has selected Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz to front their new Link women’s collection this year. They say that the star reflects the sporty yet glamorous women who buy Tag Heuer products and state that the Link collection is their most feminine yet, which really highlights the demographic growth within the watch industry. Although there is slightly more choice on the men’s side of the Link range, there are still plenty of pieces for women, all in fine-brushed polished steel or rose gold with striking black or purple dials. Tag Heuer watches plus many other brands can be found at Watches of Switzerland.
Bvlgari Serpenti Collection

In-keeping with the Chinese New Year, luxury brand Bvlgari has launched a decadent snake inspired collection which they have named Serpenti. Heritage has always been a huge inspiration for the Bvlgari brand so this year they have chosen to celebrate Chinese tradition and heritage, alongside many other luxury brands including Loree Rodkin, Daniela Swaebe and Socheec. In their new collections, which is split into the Serpenti Collection and the more extravagant Serpenti Jewellery Watches , Bvlgari have combined the past, present and future to appeal to the growing Chinese market. The watches are coiled with a snake-shaped watch face made from materials including stainless steel, yellow gold and rose gold which are then decorated with diamonds. The detailed pieces are not only functional but works of art, which delicately wrap around the wrist.
Michael Kors Spring Catalogue Pieces

For a timepiece that is a little more affordable, Michael Kors has released a number of over-sized and mid-sized women’s watches in traditional gold, silver and rose gold metallic finishes. The over-sized Chronograph watches have durable, chunky metal straps with three-eyed chronographs and beautifully detailed dials. Alternatively, you could opt for the more casual leather Runway Watch with straps in bright blue, emerald or tan.
