Lets Get Nautical

Wearing nude heels to appear taller, buying heels of ridiculous heights and fake tanning just to make our legs look longer and slimmer. Well this season there is an easy alternative, a classic pattern, stripes. Designers have taken a linear spin on there patterned garments this Spring/Summer and inspired us to experiment with stripes and zigzags.

Many designers have introduced the hot new pattern into their Spring/Summer 2013 collection, including Moschino, Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce and Gabbana. From lengthening skinny jeans to nautical pinstripe dresses, everyone is going stripe crazy! Also available on the high street, stripes are being sold in numerous stores including River Island and Topshop. The pattern is being splashed over all clothing, ready for anyone who is ready to go out in a striking, stripy outfit, however, for those who need to be eased into this trend, jewellery and shoes are also available for just a pop of pattern!

Stripes are also being worn by some of our more everyday inspirational style icons; Miley Cyrus, Kate Middleton and Kris Jenner. The daring pattern has certainly caught Miley Cyrus’ eye as she has been seen out smashing the look at least 3 times this season. She definitely stood out at a fashion show at Fashion Week in New York with her high street buy from ASOS; an eye catching black and white striped maxi, completed with black and gold accessories!

Carrying on her monochrome look with another high street bargain, Miley rock a pair of striped jeans from Motel Rocks. Miley turned up at the studio rocking her Beetle Juice look with huge gold hoops and a beanie.

Channelling her disney past, Miley stepped out at Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2013 show during New York Fashion Week donning a cropped Mickey Mouse jumper and candy striped skirt. I think its safe to say that the young starlet is definitely on trend this season!

This next look is for all of the fashionista mums out there. The Duchess of Cambridge is flying the flag for new mums who are both embracing motherhood and staying on trend. Although Kate chose a pale blue, polka dot dress for her very first post baby appearance after being inspired by her late mother in law Princess Diana, in a later grocery shopping outing, the royal opted for a nautical look. Pairing a striped boat top with black skinny jeans and two toned boat shoes. The Duchess has been sporting two bold prints this season, we can tell that new mum Kate’s style isn’t going anywhere!

Mum of six, 57 year old Kris Jenner has most definitely proved that mums can do it too when following this seasons trend. Two knock out looks have been shown to us by Kris this season, and with her 5 daughters always looking effortlessly stylish and chic, Kris has some fierce competition in her family. Pictured in LA, Kris opted for a monochrome look with a pop of colour with an a-line black and white dress and red accessories. She then sports a similar look when pictured in New York with a a monochrome striped blazer, leather jeans and a neon clutch; very stylish!
