Diane Von Furstenberg Awards

American fashion designer, Diane Von Furstenberg has announced the nominees for the second annual People’s Voice Awards. As part of the DVF awards aiming to acknowledge women for their courage, vision, leadership and commitment to helping other women.

Last year’s People’s Voice Awards was a great success and Von Furstneberg hope this year will be the same. “Over 10,000 people voted online for the woman who inspired them! This year, we are proud to have equally amazing women join us and reward them for their dedication to advancing women.”
The five nominees for the award are selected by the DVF Awards Board of Advisors. Zeinab Eyega (Sauti Yetu Center for African Women), Lyn Pentecost (Lower East Side Girl’s Club), Taryn Davis (The American Widow Project), Susannah Shakow (Running Start), and Malika Saada Saar (The Rebecca Project) have all been nominated.
People can vote for the inspirational women online www.dvf.com and www.facebook.com/dvf. The public vote will commence online on Monday, January 31st and last through Monday, February 15th so get voting. At the website below you can see short videos of each candidate and their commitment to lend a helping hand to women.
With support from The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation, the People’s Voice Award hopes to offer a helping hand to raise awareness and give them much needed resources for their efforts to grow and help more women.
Four awards are given to women who have demonstrated leadership, strength and courage in their commitment to help other women.Two awards will go to women in the Vital Voices Global Network, and one will go to prominent public figure.
The winner will be given a $50,000 award from the Foundation to sustain and carry on helping more and more woman. The winner of the People’s Voice Award will be announce at the DVF Awards on March 11th, 2011 which will be hosted by Diane von Furstenberg and Tina Brown on the closing night of The Daily Beast’s Women in the World Summit at the United Nations.
