Day 3 GFW – International Show

08-06-2011

The designers created a lot of wearable collections, with Xiaowen Ji producing angelic silhouettes with drop waist chiffon shirt dresses which smoothly glided over the catwalk. Also creating a layered lapel jacket adding texture and feminine touch.

A lot of outerwear was featured in many of the universitys collections using colours such neutrals beiges and faded mauves, hints of bronzed appeared in Laura Kirchner.

Designer Bram Van Dieper featured oversized knitwear and jackets, adding a tie dye jumpsuit to the male collection wasn’t unusual this Graduate Fashion Week.

More pastel palettes were seen at Lynn Langerveld, using pin tucks as her main technique, it was beautifully portrayed in a pointed hem shirt.

One collection reminded me of Todd Lynn, using leather on leather in a very androgynous way. Using a very low cut neckline, Quan Dong maintained a female figure using kimono like jackets to enhance the figure.

Another beautiful collection was by Mia Budiman, taking the theme of urban aboard, she made a thigh splitting maxi dress and chich trench coats, hints of oranges made the collection come alive.

Safari was the theme of another collection, adding safari pockets to the sides of floor length skirts, it looked fierce and elegant. The beige and off white colour palette kept the collection wearable, however the cutout’s in the jackets made it unique and sexy. There was a unique black fringed cape which swished down nicely as well as a white fringed skirt that swayed delightfully down the catwalk by designer Florentsya.

One really quirky collection designed by Alexandra Korgakina was made up of bright oranges and aqua blue with small hints of white. There were semi translucent capes with moustaches and guns printed onto them. It was fun to see as the men too also wore heels.

Instituto Marangoni’s designers played it safe with very wearable chic clothes. First designer Christina Econmon produced garments covered in floral and gingham prints which worked beautifully together on a satin fabric.

Half tuxedo half cape was seen stomping down the catwalk by designer Le Yen Mai, contrasting the greens and oranges , the silk dresses complimented the colours well.

One collection embraces the 1940’s class and elegance. It oozed sophistication with a satin midi skirt and corduroy. Paying attention to detail, the collars of the shirts had been embellished with sequins and ruffles in a subtle manor.
