Inditex is one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, welcoming shoppers at its eight store formats – Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti,Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe.Made up of more than 100 companies operating in textile design, manufacturing and distribution. Inditex has a USP based on innovation and flexibility.

During the first quarter of this year, the Spanish global giants saw their net sales rise by 11% generating 2,960 million euros. With a total gross profit of 1,741 million euros up by 9% on the previous year. Their net income reached 332 million euros, 10% more than in the first quarter of 2010.

Having opened 110 new stores within the first quarter their total store base was taken to 5,154 on the 30 April 2011. The new stores were opened in 29 different countries. One of the new stores included Zara’s first ever store in Australia, increasing the number of countries where Inditex sells its products to 78. Just today,(15.06.11) the Group opened its second Australian store in Melbourne. Inditex also plans to inaugurate its first stores in South Africa, Taiwan and Peru before the end of the year. There is also said to be an online Zara store, to be opening in America this September.

“Inditex’s results show, once again, the ability of the company to offset all the macro uncertainties (the weakness of the Spanish economy and other European countries, the rally in the cotton prices, the pressure in the Chinese wages) thanks to its unequalled business model in the apparel retail sector,” said one Madrid-based analyst to FT.
