Sports Direct revealed they had underlying profits of £200.4 million, after exceeding its target of £195million. Sports Directs employee bonus share scheme will pay out the shares to the  2,200 permant employees of Sports Directs; each share is worth £30,960.  With an added bonus for meeting the previous year’s target, each employee gets £43,860 on average.

The 2,200 full time staff will get  more then twice their average salary of £20,000. The shares are so high because the company’s shares have doubled in value in the past 12 months. The scheme is to continue for the next four years. Although the staff have to wait a year before they can cash in any shares as part of the scheme. The share payout is worth almost £88million. John Lewis is another company that pays out big bonuses to its staff, having paid an average £2,500 to all of the 76,500 staff in March.
