Galliano Found Guilty
08-09-2011
He is facing charges under ‘casting public insults based on origin religious affiliation, race or ethnicity’; this is following two incidents in a Paris cocktail bar.
After the verdict was announced, a lawyer for Galliano quoted “There will not be any fine to be paid and it is a fair and wise decision by the tribunal”. A fine of 4,000 Euros was incurred on both counts of the charge.

October 2010 is when the first incident occurred, were it was discovered he had verbally abused 47 year old language teacher Fatiha Oummedour. Galliano victimised his victim using a string of insults of racist and anti- Jewish remarks, in the trendy Cafe Le Perle cocktail bar.
Cafe Le Perle also became the venue for his second racial out bursts in February this year, and victimised museum curator Geraldine Bloch and companion Philippe Virgitti.
Galliano denied being anti-Semitic or racist, but claimed to have no recollection of the events because of his addiction to alcohol, Valium and sleeping pills. He claimed these addictions were down to stress of his creative job, and allowed him to have some escapism
John Galliano has repeatedly apologised for these events and is ‘saddened’ by the events and has since had treatment for his addictions. Galliano will now face up to six months in Jail.
