15-01-2013
The government expect to reduce the regulations by another £83million by replacing the “One-in One-out’ with ‘One-in Two-out’ by June 2013.
By March 2013 the following will be in action:
- The parental leave period will increase to 18 weeks per parent per child, the right to request flexible hours when returning from parental leave is also extended.
- Employers liability insurance in regards to harassment from a third party is going to be introduced.
- The statutory discrimination questionnaire procedure will be removed.
And by April 2013 the following changes will take place
- The requirement for a 90-day consultation period for those made redundant, working in a company of 100 or more employees will be removed.
- The employment Tribunal Rules of Procedure will be revised.
- The protection of whistle blowers will be changed, they will only be protected if they are in the public interest.
The Home Office have also announced changes.
They now have a new service where employees and volunteers that require criminal record checks will be able to make just one application and then have access to an online certificate check to the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service),this stops them needed to make a new application for each job they apply for. This should also speed up the recruiting process and save both time and money.
There will also be changes made to the adoption system.
Those in employment will be provided with time off of work to meet the child that they are adopting before they move in with the family. They will be able to receive paid leave for up to 5 times to meet the child.
The pay leave for those adopting will also rise. The increase will mean the adopter will receive 90% of their statutory pay.
The employee must have been employed for at least 26 weeks within their company to qualify for the new rise in pay.
