LFW S/S 14: Jean

Braganza explains that this season’s woman is one who “lives between two worlds; that of feeling and that of knowing, of self-restraint and impulse, and the space between youth and experience”.

The main inspiration was taken from the nonchalant nature in which Braganza’s daughter wears her school uniform, “in a way that is completely contrived but gives the air of effortlessness that so many stylish women convey”.

The palette was simple with pale pinks, whites, blacks and an occasional shot of red sharing the stage with a continual thread of printed abstract florals and vines, which swirled through the collection.

Texture comes in the form of broderie anglaise tailored dresses, as well as a more relaxed version of mesh sports jerseys matched with harem trousers or paired with asymmetrical printed skirts.

If this is the wardrobe of the woman that Braganza envisions, then she certainly does what he set her out to do, with loose silhouettes and slouchy shapes, is here, hidden beneath her youthful effortlessness where we find a strength and modern maturity that should serve him proud.
