LFW S/S 14: John Rocha
15-09-2013
A simple contrasting palette of whites and ivories were counterbalanced with darker shades of black. Volumes and textures were both light, creating a sheerness which sat on top of the skin, and in comparison, a volume that danced around the body. The collection breaks for colour with shots of scarlet and fuchsia floral embroidery, as well as bright, bunched lemon, violet, emerald and indigo fauna that flowed over floor length gowns.

Silk organza and couched georgette featured heavily amongst twisted organza’s, that were piped and looped to create abstract and embellished textures in the form of dresses, hats and bags, a nod to the designers subtle yet impressive craftsmanship and eye for detail. While a rare unfinished edge allowed for a less polished approach and broke up the formality of the looks.
While the basis of the collection may appear simple, the idea is to look a little deeper and delve in to the skill that emulates through Rocha’s collections season after season; for it is here that we discover something we should all know by now, that is; the devil is in the details.
