LFW S/S 14: Jonathan Saunders
16-09-2013
The Scottish designer did not disappoint, kicking off the collection with delicate Bermuda shorts and a sheer shirt – the bodice printed with a floral embroidered pattern which would re-occur throughout. Surprisingly, the outfit was then teamed with a tougher, heavy lapel, suede jacket.
As the collection progressed, the sheer, carnation embroidered tops became a key style throughout complete with silk collars and cuffs, the shirts were paired with either tiered pleated skirts or tie-dye printed skirts and cardigans.
The fluidity of the garments combined with the shiny silk and high necklines gave a very oriental vibe to the collection. Colour was incorporated through an ombre effect prominently found on his skirts.

Jonathan used a vast amount of lightweight fabrics, perfect for high summer – loose fitted jackets, fastened only at the top to flash some flesh, paired with silky trousers or a skirt. Garments hung from the models bodies beautifully and the feminine, flowing silhouettes were often toughened-up with boxy, retro bombers.
Really embracing the season the colour palette consisted mainly of blush, dusty browns, blues, oranges and hints of green found on the embroidery or in the lens of the rounded sunglasses worn by models. Models looks were finished with moccasin style sandals or chunky heels with hair styled in loose natural waves.
The collection was styled and layered perfectly, creating an aesthetically pleasing, fresh and wearable summer wardrobe.
