Primark Expands into North America

Primark is set to expand it’s market by opening its first stores in the North East of America.

Aiming to expand by the end of 2015, the move is part of the retailers plan to grow in new countries. After extensive research, ABF think that now is the perfect time to test Primark overseas, to consumers in the US.

70,000 square foot of retail space has now been signed for, and Primark aim to have the store up and running by the end of 2015. In the last few years, as they began to expand and grow Primark have gained a big following in over 7 countries where the brand is stocked, including, The UK, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal and Austria.

Primark aims to have an additional 0.5 million square feet of retail space this year, from a number of new openings including new store openings in France.

Senior retail analyst at Planet Retail commented on Primark’s expansion, saying: “Continental consumers continue to fall under Primark’s spell. Rather than have to make a pilgrimage to the UK, they are increasingly able to access Primark in their home market.”
