Draft National Minimum Wage Published
04-07-2014
The various national minimum wage rates will increase as follows.
- The adult rate for workers who are aged 21 and over will increase from £6.31 to £6.50 per hour.
- The youth development rate for 18 to 20 year olds will increase from £5.03 to £5.13 per hour.
- The rate for 16 and 17 year olds will increase from £3.72 to £3.79 per hour.
- The apprentice rate will increase from £2.68 to £2.73 per hour.
- The accommodation offset will increase from £4.91 to £5.08 per day.

This is welcome news for the younger population in work and people looking for work as the increases are much needed due to ever increasing costs of living. It also gives a boost to the older population in work who are also experiencing higher costs of living.
