The Collection at Chinawhite

13-04-2012

The networking hour before the event began was buzzing with new faces and those who received goodie bags were excited to find nail varnish from OPI, Yazabo discount cards, products from Alpha-H and Harvey Luke as well as being greeted by trays of delicious cupcakes by The Couture Cupcake Kitschen who created cupcakes in the red, black and gold that epitomise Chinawhite decor.

The show was hosted by Maisy James (Big Brother 2012) who is becoming a regular face on the fashion scene and introduced our 4 wonderful designers; Morella Sassoon, Shi Dolor, Bad London and Miss Matahari.

Morella Sassoon showed a stunning collection of evening dresses that began with heavy, crystal embellishment, sweeping the floor and wowing the crowd before developing into shorter, subtler dresses, still beautifully made and toting fine eyelash lace details. Morella Sassoon offered a massive 20% discount on their stunning evening wear for the evening which we have no doubt was snapped up!

Bad London was the next designer to show and for the new Spring/Summer collection has added bursts of yellow, pink and turquoise to sheer chiffon maxi dresses, emblazoned with positive awareness messages denouncing drug abuse, corruption and other major issues while remaining hip.

The show’s interval featured a stunning performance by Snow Wilde – a new burlesque performer that tickled everyone’s senses as she undulated for the crowd.

The Miss Matahari collection is a couture sportswear collection featuring warrior like elements, couture pieces featured feathers, chains and flashed flesh while the RTW sportswear was incredibly stylish and showed great wearability.

The final collection shown was Shi Dolor who showed a selection of couture evening dresses as well as gorgeous, sparkling jewellery worn with bikinis for cheeky effect. The dresses floated down the catwalk, embellished with coloured crystals and some were laced at the back leaving the back revealed.

Hair was styled into 60’s style centre parted beehives with an air of Brigitte Bardot and was created by the Harvey Luke hair team who also provided goody bags and products. Make up was clean and clear with feline eyes and pillar-box-red glossy lips – the make up team was headed up by Natalie Bennett.

After a finale and clear up backstage it was time to party and models mixed with the crowd making for a spectacular end to a wonderful evening.
