Buying & Merchandising students from the FRA visit the Factory

27-04-2016

The group of students who were all post graduates on a six week intensive B&M Retail Management Programme at FRA were keen to learn as much about the supplier / buyer relationship as possible.

FRAbandm

Following the two hour visit the students had learnt what an open costing is, how factories use standard minutes, choosing the correct components for the garment, fabric consumption and the effects of cabbage, use of industrial machines and the technical implications of a factory on a garment delivery, why deliveries are late and much more!

The students commented:

‘With little to no knowledge on the workings of a factory I have learnt about this section of the supply chain in much greater detail.’ Charlotte

‘Very interesting to visit a UK based manufacturer producing for well-known retailers om the current environment. Inspiring and endearing day with Jenny and her team who are all obviously very dedicated and enthusiastic about their work.’ Gaynor

‘I learnt about costings based on material, detail and stitching. Very interesting insight into the garment manufacturing process. Jenny is an inspiring speaker!’ Natalie

As the relationship with FRA grows and visits from their students become more regular we are delighted to confirm that as of September 2016 there will be a confirmed weekly site visit to The Factory for students at FRA.
