FC Designer Collective Welcomes Upcycled Brand Atelier Macleod to Fonthill Road

13-11-2025

Fashion-Enter Ltd’s community-focused retail space, FC Designer Collective, based on Fonthill Road, Islington, is delighted to announce it now stocks the upcycled and sustainable fashion brand Atelier Macleod.

This partnership perfectly reflects the shop’s ongoing dedication to repair, reuse, and responsible design, a commitment also embodied in the free drop-in repair and upcycle workshops held every two weeks, proudly supported by Islington Council. These sessions invite local residents to learn practical sewing and upcycling skills, extend the life of their clothes, and rethink the way they consume fashion.

Now, with Atelier Macleod joining the roster of sustainable brands available in-store, FC Designer Collective continues to lead the charge in making ethical and circular fashion accessible to everyone.

Earlier this year, the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) Leicester, part of the Fashion-Enter group, proudly supported Atelier Macleod with small-batch production of its latest upcycled cropped t-shirt collection. Each piece was made from existing materials, championing a circular approach to fashion while supporting UK-based garment manufacturing.

Led by founder and designer Niamh Macleod, the brand worked closely with Jo Bean and the skilled team at FTA Leicester to bring the new capsule range to life. Every garment embodies Niamh’s core values of transparency, sustainability, and slow production, ensuring style never comes at the cost of people or the planet.

“It’s important for us as a brand to support the UK’s garment industry,” said Niamh. “It’s a true craft, and we have so many talented people who could have fantastic jobs in this field. I’m really excited to be a part of this fashion revival.”

Atelier Macleod began in 2024, when Niamh sold her handmade collections at local markets. Her designs, inspired by her Franco-British background, merge classic tailoring with modern silhouettes. But it was her fashion studies and what she learned about the industry’s environmental impact that shaped her mission to create a brand built entirely on circular design principles.

“When I studied fashion, I learned that the industry is responsible for around 20% of global water pollution,” Niamh explained. “Once you’ve seen the human cost of that, you can’t go back to business as usual. Every piece we make is upcycled giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste.”

The addition of Atelier Macleod to FC Designer Collective strengthens the shop’s mission to celebrate craftsmanship, sustainability, and community. Shoppers can now browse the brand’s upcycled cropped t-shirts alongside collections from other local, independent UK designers championing ethical fashion.

Visitors are also invited to take part in the free drop-in repair and upcycle workshops, held every two weeks, where they can learn how to mend, customise, and revive their own clothes helping reduce waste and keep garments in circulation for longer.
